February 16, Tuesday

What you need today: collagraph plate, brush, mod podge, printing paper, ink

Complete your Collagraph plate. Make sure you have your textures glued down well to the plate.

Seal your Collagraph plate.
Use mod podge to seal everything on your plate. Make sure you cover all the textures with the glue. The glue will dry transparent, but you need to make sure you don't put so much on that it is white. MAKE SURE YOU WASH THE BRUSH OUT COMPLETELY AFTER USING THE MOD PODGE.

Test your plate.
Once your plate has been sealed for a day, then you can make a FROTTAGE, or rubbing of your plate to test it before you print for the first time. Cover the collagraph plate with newsprint and use a crayon to rub across the top of the paper.

Ink your plate.
Apply ink from the well using a dauber. Use sheets of newpaper to rub or buff off the ink. The lighter the ink, the harder is is to show different textures.

Pulling your Print.
Run your plate through the press after lightly misting the paper. Slowly pull the paper from the collagraph plate.
